Women's Lacrosse Hosts Towson in Final Home Game

Baltimore, Md. - Tuesday the Loyola College women's lacrosse team faces Towson in its final home game of the season. The Greyhounds will honor seniors Laura Carper, Sydney Greene, Kristin McKay, Cindy Nicolaus, Chrissy Nicolaus, Emilie Patterson, Katherine Sachs, Talia Shacklock and Stephanie Walker prior to the game.

Towson and Loyola have met a total of 33 times in the history of the program, starting in 1973 (Loyola first women's lacrosse season). Although the Tigers won the first meeting, Loyola has won the last 24 straight games against the Tigers.

Towson's offensive efforts are led by Shannon Witzel's 51 goals and 13 assists. She's followed by Becky Trumbo who has 36 goals and a team-high 17 assists on the season. Also scoring in double figures are Meggie McNamara (35 goals, five assists), Hilary Fratzke (21 goals, 13 assists) and Brittany Woodfield (14 goals, seven assists).

Fratzke has already broke the NCAA record for most draw controls in a season with 88 of Towson's 253 draws won. Julie Ondrako is on the top of the Tigers list in groundballs with 33 while Witzel leads in caused turnovers with 25.

In goal, Mandy Corry has played nearly every minute with a 11.14 goals-against average and a 49.2 saves percentage.

Junior Kate McHarg continues to lead her team with 54 goals and eight assists on the season. She's followed by sophomore Maura Kenny has 23 goals and two assists this season. Seniors Stephanie Walker (13 goals and seven assists), junior Emily Lawrence (14 goals and three assists) and Sydney Greene (13 goals and four assists) round out the top five scorers.

McHarg also leads the team in groundballs with 36 and in draw controls at 35. Senior Laura Carper has a team best 17 caused turnovers. She's followed closely by Liz Peregoy (15) and Walker (14).
