Women's Lacrosse Travels to Delaware Tuesday

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's lacrosse team travels to Delaware Tuesday to play a game that was originally scheduled for March 7. The game was postponed due to weather and will now be played Tuesday in Newark at 3:00.

Senior Kate McHarg has taken over the lead for the Greyhounds in goals and points with 27 goals and three assists for 30 points. She's followed in points by sophomore Colleen O'Keefe who has 17 goals and 10 assists on the season. Junior Maura Kenny has 20 goals and five assists. Classmates Kate Filippelli and Alicyn Brunnett follow Kenny. Filippelli has 13 goals and four assists while Brunnett has nine goals and five assists. Freshman Emily Gibson rounds out the top scorers with six goals and five assists.

Junior Kristen Stone leads Loyola in both groundballs (33) and caused turnovers (22) while Gibson leads on the draw with 26.

Freshman Karen Nicolaus is the team's starting keeper, posting a 14.14 goals against average and stopping 38.6% of the shots she has faced.

Delaware is ranked 20th in the country with a 9-5 record. The Blue Hens have topped UMBC (16-5), St. Bonaventure (15-8), Davidson (11-3), Virginia Tech (16-7), Towson (16-15), William & Mary (12-6), Old Dominion (7-6) and Hofstra (9-6). UDel's losses are to Penn State (15-10, Rutgers (15-12), Penn (13-6), James Madison (19-16) and Drexel (15-9).

The Blue Hens are led in scoring by Nicole Flego's 31 goals and 16 assists. She's followed by Katie Muth with 28 goals and 11 assists while Debbie Sloan has 28 goals and 10 assists. Courtney Aburn added 29 goals and seven assists and Casey McCrudden rounds out the top five scorers with 27 goals and eight assists.

Sloan is also the team's leader in draw controls with 27 this season. Ern Zimmerman leads the team in groundballs with 29 and Stacey McPartland has a team-high 20 caused turnovers.

Goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny has a goals-against average of 10.06 and stops 44% of the shots she faces.
