CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse senior Marlee Paton and junior Annie Thomas have been named the final Patriot League Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the League office Monday.
The duo led the Greyhounds to an 11-6 win over Navy in their Patriot League finale to wrap up an undefeated season in conference play, capturing the Patriot League regular season title for Loyola and clinching the host spot for the upcoming tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Paton receives her second-straight defensive player of the week nod, and third weekly award (offensive player on March 17), after finishing the game vs. Navy with four ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers. She also added two assists in the game to move her career total to 94.
Thomas picked up her league-best fourth offensive player of the week award after leading all players with five points in the win over the Midshipmen. Thomas sparked a 5-0 run to open the game with an assist and a goal in the first two tallies, and she added two goals in the second half as Loyola stretched its lead to 9-2. With three goals and two assists in the win, Thomas contributed her sixth hat trick of the season and the 16th of her career.
