PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Grace Gavin has been named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll for the fourth time this season, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Gavin led the Greyhounds with 11 goals, 13 points, nine draw controls and six ground balls as the 13th-ranked Greyhounds fell to #8 Syracuse and defeated Connecticut.
In a 13-11 loss at the Carrier Dome against Syracuse, Gavin led all scorers with four goals and also had a game-high four draw controls.
Gavin was even better in the win against UConn, with five of her career-high seven goals coming in the first half. The native of Baltimore, Md., added another two goals and an assist in the second stanza for eight total points, matching her career-high.
For the season, Gavin leads the Greyhounds with 53 goals, 18 assists and 71 total points. She also ranks sixth in the country with 3.53 goals per game and 4.73 points per game. In conference play, Gavin is even better, leads the conference with 4.17 goals per game and 5.83 points per game.
The five-foot-nine junior midfielder is rapidly climbing the Loyola record books, ranking sixth all-time with 197 points and eighth with 147 career goals.
The Greyhounds host BIG EAST rival Villanova for Senior Day on Saturday, April 24. Opening draw from the Ridley Athletic Complex is slated for 1:00 pm.
