Thomas Picks Up Corvias Patriot League Player Of The Week Accolades

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse senior Annie Thomas has become the third Greyhound to be named the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week this season, as announced by the league office Monday. Redshirt seniors Gretchen Mayer and Taryn VanThof were also included on the league's honorable mention performances for the week.

Thomas picks up her first weekly award of the season and the fifth of her career from the Patriot League. For the season, the Greyhounds have been honored with the top offensive player of the week four times, as senior Kara Burke has picked up the award twice and classmate Hannah Schmitt earned one accolade.

A native of Bel Air, Maryland, Thomas led the Greyhounds to a 2-0 week and at least a share of the Patriot League title, as Loyola beat American, 19-6, in a midweek road game and Boston University, 9-6, at home on Saturday to remain undefeated in league play. With 15-straight conference wins, the Greyhounds have tied the Patriot League's record for the longest win streak in a league games.

At American, Thomas recorded a career-best nine points - the most points of any Patriot League player this season - by scoring three goals and adding six assists. She followed that up with a pair of goals in the win over the Terriers to extend her point streak to 14-straight games.

For the season, Thomas leads the Patriot League and is tied for third in the NCAA with 36 assists. Her 23 assists and 35 points in conference games also leads the league.

Mayer, a native of Arnold, Maryland finished the week with six ground balls and eight caused turnovers, including a personal-best four ground balls and five caused turnovers at American.

VanThof, a native of Livonia, New York, compiled two goals, two assists, four ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover in the two wins.

The Greyhounds will travel to Navy on Saturday to close out the Patriot League regular season schedule at noon. The winner of the contest will earn the right to host next week's Patriot League Tournament.
