PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Loyola midfielder Grace Gavin has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth time this season, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Gavin led the `Hounds with 11 points on eight goals last week.
In a tough one-goal loss at the hands of then #14 Notre Dame, Gavin led all scorers with five points on three goals and two assists. Gavin also led Loyola with a pair of draw controls.
Over the weekend, Gavin scored six points on five goals and an assist in a 17-10 victory at BIG EAST rival Louisville. All five of her goals came in the second half with the first coming just over two minutes in, giving Loyola its first lead after coming back from a three-goal deficit. Trailing 8-7, Gavin scored the game's next four goals, including a pair just 11 seconds apart to give Loyola a lead they would not relinquish.
For the season, the junior leads the Greyhounds with 42 goals, 16 assists and 58 points. Her 3.23 goals per game and 4.46 points per game both rank fourth in the BIG EAST. Gavin is even better in conference play, leading the BIG EAST with 3.50 goals per game and 5.50 points per game.
Gavin has also scored at least one goal in 36 straight games, the fifth longest active streak in the nation and first amongst active juniors.
Loyola (9-4 overall, 3-1 BIG EAST) is on the road this weekend, travelling to the Carrier Dome to take on Syracuse Friday, April 16 at 6:00 pm. Two days later, a pair of sisters clash as freshman Ashley Moulton and the Greyhounds take on senior goalkeeper Jenna Moulton and the Connecticut Huskies.
