Baltimore, Md. - Wednesday the Loyola women's lacrosse team takes on BIG EAST opponent UConn. The Greyhounds are looking to build upon their 13-12 overtime win over No. 11 Syracuse last week and improve their conference record to 3-1 against the Huskies.
This is the first ever meeting between the Loyola and Connecticut women's lacrosse teams.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
UConn is led in scoring by Shannon Burke's 26 goals and seven assists. Three other Huskies have recorded double-digits in goals to date this season. Kristin Link has 18, Abbey VanDeusen has scored 17 times and Laura Trzasko is up to 12 goals.
Clare Schwan leads the team in both groundballs and caused turnovers with 25 and 16 respectively. Janet Williams is Connecticut's leader on the draw with 23.
Kristen Haldeman has played every minute between the pipes for the Huskies with a 11.49 goals-against average and a 50.2 saves percentage.
ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS
Junior Kate McHarg continues to lead her team with 44 goals and seven assists on the season. She's followed by sophomore Maura Kenny has 20 goals and two assists this season. Seniors Stephanie Walker (11 goals and four assists), Sydney Greene (11 goals and four assists) and Talia Shacklock (11 goal and two assists) round out the top five scorers.
McHarg also leads the team in groundballs with 30 and in draw controls at 25. Senior Laura Carper has a team best 15 caused turnovers.
Freshman keeper Alex Piraino, who has started the last nine games, posts 13.08 goals against average a 39.6% saves percentage.
