Women's Lacrosse Hosts Syracuse in BIG EAST Match-Up Saturday

Baltimore, Md. - Saturday the women's lacrosse team hosts BIG EAST rival Syracuse in the second half of a double-header with the men's squad. The Greyhound men take on Rutgers at 1:00 while the women's game is set to begin at 3:30.

SERIES RECORD
The Greyhounds and the Orange have met just three times in the history of the women's lacrosse programs. Loyola won the first two meetings in 2003(14-10) and 2004(14-11) while Syracuse won the most recent game, 11-9 in 2005. This is the first conference meeting between the two teams however since Loyola joined the BIG EAST this season.

SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Four Orange players have double-figures in goals with Kathryn Rowan leading the way with 29 goals and eight assists. Gaddy Fortune has 30 points from 27 goals and three assists. Caitlyn Dragon (16 goals, six assists) and Megan Mosenson (13 goals, 4 assists) have 22 and 17 points respectively.

Dragon is the team leader in groundballs with 26 this season while Mosenson and Kristin Brady tie the lead for draw controls with 15. Jill Depetris causes the most turnovers with 18 this season.

Starting keeper Jen Kasel posts a 7.77 goals-against average and with 81 saves, her save percentage is 51.9%.

ABOUT THE GREYHOUNDS
Junior Kate McHarg continues to lead her team with 40 goals and seven assists on the season. She's followed by sophomore Maura Kenny has 20 goals and two assists this season. Seniors Sydney Greene (11 goals and three assists) , Talia Shacklock (11 goal and two assists) and Stephanie Walker (nine goals and three assists) round out the top five scorers.

McHarg also leads the team in groundballs with 28. Shacklock is the leader at center with 22 draw controls. Senior Laura Carper and junior Liz Peregoy tie for a team best 13 caused turnovers.

Freshman keeper Alex Piraino, who has started the last eight games, posts 13.38 goals against average a 39.2% saves percentage.
