Women's Lacrosse Travels to JMU Tuesday; Hosts Georgetown Saturday

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's lacrosse team takes on the No. 6 and No. 7 teams this week. The Greyhounds travel to No. 6 James Madison on Tuesday and return home Saturday to host No. 7 and BIG EAST opponent Georgetown.

Sophomore Colleen O'Keefe leads the team in points with 11 goals and eight assists. Senior Kate McHarg and junior Maura Kenny follow with 14 goals and three assists each. Junior Kate Filippelli rounds out the double-digit point scorers with 12 goals and an assist.

Junior Kristen Stone leads the team in groundballs (26) and caused turnovers (19) while freshman Emily Gibson leads in draw controls with 16.

Freshman goalkeeper Karen Nicolaus has a 12.28 goals-against average and a .425 saves percentage.

JMU is 6-2 on the season posting wins over Georgetown (14-1), Yale (13-9), Stanford (10-9), Virginia Tech (23-15), Dartmouth (16-9) and Longwood (15-8). Their losses have come at the hands of Virginia (16-13) and Notre Dame (10-9) in sudden victory overtime.

Kelly Berger leads the team in points with 21 goals and 14 assists. Annie Wagner follows with 27 goals and an assist while Natasha Fuchs has 12 goals and 11 assists to her credit. Emily Haller has 17 goals and three assists while Maria Bosica has 12 goals and four assists.

Kylee Dardine leads the team in groundballs with 14 while Jess Brophy has a team-high 12 caused turnovers. Julie Stone leads the team in draw controls with 18.

Kelly Wetzel has played a majority of the time in goal, posting a 10.28 goals against average and a .517 saves percentage.

These two teams have met at least once a season since the 1982 season. Loyola holds a 21-14 advantage in the series but the Dukes have won the last two outings.

Georgetown is 6-3 to date this season with wins over William & Mary (13-5), Rutgers (9-3), George Mason (12-6), Johns Hopkins (16-13), Syracuse (9-8) and Oregon (11-8). Their losses have come at the hands of North Carolina (8-6) and James Madison (14-10).

Coco Stanwick leads the team in scoring with 29 goals and 15 assists for 44 points. She's followed by Brittany Baschuk's 19 goals and seven assists. Bunny O'Reilly follows with 14 goals and five assists while Schuyler Sutton has 15 goals and two assists. Rounding out the double-digit point scorers is Zan Morley with nine goals and two assists.

Patty Piotrowicz has a team-high 19 groundballs. Chloe Asselin leads the team in caused turnovers with 14. Stanwick, in addition to leading the team in goals and points, leads in draw controls with 38.

Maggie Koch plays a majority of the team's minutes in goal with a goals against average of 8.34 and a saves percentage of .493.

Loyola have met just six times prior to Saturday's meeting. The four Greyhound wins came in a stretch between 1978 and 1981 while the Hounds have won the last two meetings with a win last season and in the 2001 NCAA semifinals.
