PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Loyola senior midfielder Kate Filippelli was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll today following her performance in Loyola's game on Sunday at Penn State.
Filippelli scored two goals and led the Greyhounds with a team-high four draw controls. She also tied for tops on the squad with three ground balls against the Nittany Lions.
In addition to her statistical marks, Filippelli was key in the Greyhounds' defensive effort. She had primary marking responsibility against Penn State's leading scorer, Jessi Lieb, a member of the U.S. Lacrosse National Team.
With Filippelli marking her, Lieb was held scoreless, tallying her two goals against other defenders.
Filippelli and Loyola resume competition on Friday, April 4, against Cincinnati at 3 p.m. on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.
