Women's Lacrosse Visits Towson Wednesday; Hosts Penn State Saturday

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's lacrosse team plays two games in the Baltimore area this week. The first is a night game at Towson on Wednesday, March 28 while the second is the second game in a double-header with the men's team on Saturday. The women will take on Penn State at 3:30, following the 1:00 men's game vs. Syracuse.

ABOUT THE `HOUNDS
Sophomore Colleen O'Keefe leads the team in points this season with nine points and seven assists on the season. Junior Maura Kenny leads the team in goals with 13 while adding two assists to come in second in points. Third in point scoring is senior Kate McHarg's 10 goals and two assists. Kate Filippelli rounds out the top scorers with eight goals and an assist.

Junior Kristen Stone leads the team in groundballs with 22 and caused turnovers with 17. Freshman Emily Gibson is the leader in draw controls with 14. Senior Liz Peregoy is third on the team in all three categories, posting 12 groundballs, nine draw controls and seven caused turnovers.

Freshman Karen Nicolaus is Loyola's starting goalkeeper, posting an 11.95 goals-against average and a .432 saves percentage.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson is 3-3 on the season currently, posting wins over American (17-7), New Hampshire (12-9) and a double-overtime victory over No. 14 Richmond (10-9). The Tigers losses have come at the hands of No. 20 Penn (15-7), No. 11 Syracuse (18-10) and George Washington (11-10).

Hilary Fratzke leads the Tigers in scoring with 19 goals and two assists on the season. Maggie McNamara follows with 14 goals and two assists. Shannon Witzel rounds out the double-digit point scorers with 11 goals and three assists.

Fratzke leads the way in groundballs (19), draw controls (27) and caused turnovers (13).

SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
Penn State is 6-2 on the season with wins over Temple (17-5), Princeton (8-7), William & Mary (12-4), Colgate (11-4), Bucknell (19-6) and Delaware (15-10) and losses to Vanderbilt (9-7) and Virginia (13-6).

Lindsay Dutch leads the Nittany Lions in scoring with 17 goals and 10 assists per game. Jessi Lieb adds 16 goals and seven assists to come in second. Kerry Shea is third in scoring with 15 goals and four assists on the season. Karen Long adds 12 goals and seven assists. Marisa Lozano is the final double-digits points totals with six goals and six assists.

Lieb leads the team in groundballs with 31. She's followed closely by goalkeeper Cammie Jurkowsky with 20 groundballs. Dutch leads in draw controls with 21 while Lieb also leads in caused turnovers with 12.

Jurkowsy is the starting keeper for the Nittany Lions, posting a 7.13 goals-against average and a saves percentage of .505.
