March 11, 2009

BALTIMORE - Former Regional All-American goalkeeper Allie Buote has joined the Loyola women's lacrosse team as a volunteer assistant coach, Greyhounds Head Coach Jen Adams announced today.

Buote, who was a three-year starter at Maryland, will coach the Loyola goalkeepers this season.

"We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Allie's character and coaching ability join our program," Adams said. Our players, especially our goalkeepers are going to benefit greatly from her insight of the game."

Buote played for Adams when the latter was the associate head coach for the Terps, and Buote was a collegiate teammate of Loyola Assistant Coach Dana Dobbie.

Last season, Buote earned All-South Region Second Team honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association after posing a 7.55 goals against average in over 1,215 minutes between the pipes.

Buote concluded her career with an 8.91 goals against average and was a two-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team.

A native of Annapolis, Md., and former prep standout at St. Mary's High School, Buote graduated from Maryland in May 2008 with a bachelor's degree in criminology.
