March 9, 2009

BALTIMORE - After a solid second-half showing at Towson on Saturday evening, which resulted in a 15-12 victory over the Tigers, the Loyola women's lacrosse team jumped into the Top 20 of the IWLCA Coaches Poll, the Inside Lacrosse Top 20, as well as the rankings.

The Greyhounds (3-1 overall) are ranked 20th by the coaches and are tied for 18th in this week's IL poll, marking the first time since the week of March 21, 2005, that Loyola has been in the national rankings.

Loyola is one of four BIG EAST Conference teams to be ranked in the top 20, tying the league with the Atlantic Coast Conference for most in the nation. BIG EAST foe Syracuse checks in at No. 6, while Georgetown and Notre Dame are sixth and seventh, respectively.

Additionally, the Greyhounds are 19th in the fifth poll of the year.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Sunday, March 15, when they host Davidson at 12 p.m. on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field. The game is also `Family Fun Day' where children can experience great activities before the game and throw and catch with Loyola players after.
