Gavin, Gallagher Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

BALTIMORE - Loyola sophomores Kellye Gallagher and Grace Gavin were named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll today for their performances in the Greyhounds' 21-6 victory last Wednesday over UMBC.

Gallagher set career-highs with five caused turnovers and four ground balls as she helped the Loyola defense hold the Retrievers to just three goals in each half.

Gavin was Loyola's top scorer, recording four goals and two assists against UMBC. She also had four caused turnovers and two draw controls.

The award is the first of the year for each player and the first of Gallagher's career. Gavin was named to the Honor Roll four times last season as a freshman.

Loyola (2-1) hits the road for a pair of games this week, taking on two opponents from the Colonial Athletic Association. The Greyhounds travel to Newark, Del., to play Delaware at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4. Loyola then plays at Towson at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
