BALTIMORE - Sophomore goalkeeper Kerry Stoothoff has been named the WomensLacrosse.com Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon. Stoothoff led the Greyhounds to a 15-11 upset victory at #10 Virginia last weekend with a career-high 15 saves.
In the season opener at #18 Penn State, Stoothoff had arguably one of the best games of her career despite the loss. Stoothoff allowed just nine goals in the game, her best effort in that department while playing an entire 60 minutes.
In the same release sent out by WomensLacrosse, the Loyola Greyhounds are ranked seventh in the nation, just behind BIG EAST rival Syracuse, who is ranked sixth, and the top team in the conference. Notre Dame and Georgetown are ranked ninth and tenth, respectively in the poll.
