BALTIMORE - The Loyola women's lacrosse team has been ranked 14th in the IWLCA Poll to open the 2010 season, the organization announced Tuesday. Last week, the Greyhounds were also ranked 14th in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Poll.
Northwestern sit in the top spot after receiving all 20 first-place votes, followed by Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Duke.
Loyola will face seven teams ranked in the top 20, including four that were voted in the top ten, including conference rivals Syracuse, Georgetown and Notre Dame, who ranked 6-7-8, respectively. Atlantic Coast Conference member, Virginia, who the `Hounds face February 20, in Charlottesville, rounds out the top ten.
Following the Greyhounds in the poll are Dartmouth, Ohio State, cross-town rival Towson, Penn State, Cornell and William & Mary.
Also receiving votes were Boston College, Denver, Fairfield, Harvard and New Hampshire.
