Feb. 1, 2010

BALTIMORE - The Loyola women's lacrosse team has been ranked 14th in the Inside Lacrosse Women's Media Preseason Poll, which was released Monday afternoon.  The Greyhounds, who finished 11-6 overall in 2009, return eight starters in 2010.

Second-year head coach Jen Adams has put together one of the tougher schedules in the nation, featuring seven teams ranked in this poll, four of which are ranked in the top ten.

Loyola opens the 2010 season February 14, when they take on Penn State, who is ranked just behind the Greyhounds in the Inside Lacrosse poll at 15th. The Greyhounds and Nittany Lions are two of the most storied women's lacrosse teams in the country as Penn State is second all-time with 426 victories, and Loyola is fifth with 373. Both teams have an identical 200 losses in their program history.

The Greyhounds' home-opener is against #17 Towson at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field on March 6. Ten days later, Loyola will play its first game at the newly constructed Ridley Athletic Complex against conference rival Rutgers, March 16 at 7:00 p.m.
