Baltimore, Md. - Loyola's men's-women's lacrosse doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, February 24 has been moved to Sunday, February 25 and will be broadcast live on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). The home opener for both squads, the men host Towson at noon and the women welcome Hofstra at 3 p.m.
"Ordinarily, we wouldn't pursue changes this late in our schedules," says Loyola Assistant Athleitc Director Marty Kelly. "But the opportunity to get both men's and women's lacrosse on television was too attractive to ignore."
Loyola's men's team opens the regular season on February 17 at Notre Dame. The Greyhounds, who generally have a pair of games broadcast on Baltimore's ABC-2 each season, have not had the Towson game aired since its move in the schedule to the beginning of the season.
The women's program has had games broadcast on CSTV in recent years, but for the first time, will have its season opener televised. The Greyhounds, who were schedule to play Hofstra at 4 p.m. on Saturday, will host the Pride on 3 p.m. on Sunday instead.
"Thanks to Jim Cuddihy and his staff at MASN for working with us on this," added Kelly. "We're excited to have our first home games in lacrosse on TV."
MASN is a regional sports network owned by the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles. The network branched out to college sports this past fall and will air local lacrosse games this spring. Check back at LoyolaGreyhounds.com for further Loyola games on MASN when a schedule becomes available.
