Loyola Women's Lacrosse Adds 2008 National Rookie Of The Year To Roster

BALTIMORE - Loyola Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Jen Adams announced today that 2008 National Rookie of the Year Meg Decker has joined the program and will compete for the Greyhounds in 2010 after satisfying NCAA residency requirements.

Decker earned the national honors and was an All-Patriot League performer at the U.S. Naval Academy in 2008.

"I am excited to have a player and a person of Meg's caliber join our program," Loyola Head Coach Jen Adams said. "Meg brings to Loyola a wealth of athleticism and a playing maturity well beyond her years.

"I look forward to the day Meg steps on the field in a Loyola uniform. After a year of training and coaching, I am confident that Meg will be ready to take her individual, as well as Loyola's game, to a whole new level."

She scored 63 goals and had 13 assists for a total of 76 points. She also controlled 58 draws and was a three-time honoree as Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Her 76 total points were good for 23rd in NCAA Division I, and she was 17th in points per game (4.47) and 10th in draw controls per game (3.41).

Among first-year players in Division I, Decker was the leader in draw controls and third in points and goals.

Prior to attending the Naval Academy, Decker was an All-Baltimore County player at Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville, Md. The Sailors' team Most Valuable Player in 2007, Decker was also the vice president and chaplain of the student council.
