Jan. 3, 2005

Baltimore, Md. - Head women's lacrosse coach Kerri O'Day announced the addition of seven athletes to the Loyola program for the 2006 season.

Six of the seven recruits are from the Greater Baltimore area. Paige Hoffen (Catonsville, Mount de Sales), Mary Clare Taylor (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron), Megan Joines (White Hall, Md./North Harford), Meg Taylor (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron), Alex Piraino (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Lizzie Schwarcz (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) and Elizabeth Weber (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) have all signed their letters of intent to play lacrosse at Loyola.

"This was an exciting year for recruiting because we are bringing in some of the top local talent," O'Day said. "We hope that this trend continues and are looking forward to an increase in local support."

The Class of 2009 features two attackers (Mary Clare and Meg Taylor), four midfielders (Hoffen, Joines, Schwarcz and Weber) and one goalkeeper (Piranio).

"I'm excited about the incoming class we've put together for next season," O'Day said. "I think they will compliment our returning players well. Each player excels in a different area and I feel confident that they will work and fit well with the Loyola system."

The Greyhounds 2005 season begins on Tuesday, March 1st as the host UMBC on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field at 3:30 p.m. For the full women's lacrosse schedule, click here.
