Greyhounds End Season With Loss to Fourth-Ranked Maryland

BALTIMORE - Eight Maryland players scored goals, as the fourth-ranked Terrapins defeated host Loyola, 20-4, in the Greyhounds season finale on Saturday afternoon at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.

Dana Dobbie and Kate Faas each scored twice, while Kelly Kasper and Laura Merrifield tallied three goals a piece for the Terrapins (17-2).

Kate Filippelli added two goals and had an assist for Loyola (6-10).

Maryland scored the game's first 10 goals before Abby Rehfuss took a pass from Grace Gavin and scored from the right side of the crease for the Greyhounds.

Faas scored the next goal, making it a 11-1 halftime lead for the Terrapins.

Alicyn Brunnett won the opening draw of the second half, and Filippelli scored unassisted 23 second into the frame.

Maryland scored twice more before Filippelli fed Gavin who scored with an under-handed, behind-the-back shot with 24:26 to play.

Filippelli scored the Greyhounds final goal, on a free-position shot with 20:23 remaining, before Maryland reeled off the final six goals.

The Terrapins took 42 shots to Loyola's 17, but Loyola had a 13-12 edge in draw controls.

Meg Steffe made 10 saves, and Courtney Burhans had one, in goal for the Greyhounds.
