Princeton, N.J. - Kate Filippelli scored three goals and Colleen O'Keefe scored two, but it wasn't enough against 10th-ranked Princeton on Wednesday night at Princeton Stadium. The Greyhounds led early, but the Tigers scored eight of the game's final nine goals to win 14-5 in a nationally televised affair on ESPNU.
Filippelli struck first, scoring less than three minutes into the game as Loyola capitalized on an early Princeton turnover. The Tigers scored the next two and led 2-1 when Filippelli won the draw at 4:30 that led to O'Keefe's eighth goal of the season at 4:49.
Loyola would score twice more before the half with Filippelli adding her seventh and eighth goals of the season. Princeton, however, tallied eight first-half goals and led 8-4 at the break.
The Greyhounds would not get any closer in the second half as the Tigers scored three times in the stanza's first nine minutes. Loyola added its fifth goal of the game when a wide shot from Maura Kenny was controlled by Kate McHarg, who fed O'Keefe for the score.
Loyola goalie Karen Nicolaus finished with 11 saves in the loss, while Meg Taylor picked up four groundballs and caused three turnovers for the `Hounds. Loyola is now 1-5 overall and returns home to host Notre Dame this Sunday at 1 p.m.
