Baltimore, Md. - Loyola women's basketball looks to finish 2006 on a strong note while hosting Penn on New Year's Eve. The Greyhounds are fresh off a 61-54 win over Villanova Thursday and hope to put together back-to-back wins. The Quakers meanwhile fell most recently to Temple Friday night by a score of 68-49.
ABOUT THE `HOUNDS
Senior Jill Glessner continues to lead Loyola in scored with 15 points a game. She also leads is tied for the lead in assists with 2.6 a game and is now second in rebounds with 6.3 a game. Classmate Brittany Dunn follows with 10 points a game and is tied with Glessner for the steals lead at 2.6. Dunn also leads in steals with 1.7 a game. Junior Meghan Wood is third in scoring at 9.8 points a game and leads in rebounds with seven a game. Classmate Vika Sholokhova rounds out the top scorers with nine points a game after her debut performance. She is third in rebounds with six a game.

The Greyhounds hold a 3-1 advantage in the series with the Quakers dating back to the 1994-95 season when Loyola defeated Penn on the road by a score of 62-52. The next meeting, also at Penn, gave the `Hounds a 67-60 advantage in the 1995-96 season. The teams also played in Baltimore that year with the Greyhounds earning the third straight win over the Quakers, 63-42. In the last meeting between the teams, in 1996-97, Penn earned its first win over Loyola 62-54.
