The Loyola women's basketball team enters the San Diego State Surf `N Slam Tournament with an overall record of 5-3. The Greyhounds have had just over a week off over the holidays and look to improve upon their record against the Aztecs. Loyola has never faced San Diego State, Auburn or UC Davis in head-to-head competition in any sport.

San Diego State is currently 2-6 overall after a 78-56 loss to Pittsburgh. The Aztecs remaining losses have come at the hands of Witchita State, the University of San Diego, UC Riverside, UC Davis and Pepperdine. Their wins are over Portland State and Boise State

Currently leading the team in scoring and rebounding is Michelle Strawberry with 15.4 points and 8.0 rebounds a game. Veronica Shaw follows Strawberry in scoring with 11.8 points per game. Desiree Johnson follows in rebounds with 6.3 a game. Johnson leads the squad in blocks with 13 on the season. Leading the team in assists is Tamika Lipford with a total of 392 and in steals with 19.

Auburn is 7-4 on the season and have won their last three straight over Western Carolina, Louisiana-Lafayette and Furman. The Tigers remaining wins are over UTPA, Buffalo, George Mason and Jacksonville State. Auburns' losses on the season are to Duke, Xavier and Chattanooga.

Dewanna Bonner leads the Tigers in scoring with an average of 13.5 points per game. She is second on the boards with an average of six a contest. Marita Payne leads on the boards with 8.1 per game while trailing Bonner in scoring average at 11 points a game even. Nitasha Brown rounds out the Auburn players averaging double-figures with 10.6 points per game. Brown leads in assists with 59 total on the season.

UC Davis is 5-5 to date after a win over Bethany 76-36. Prior to that, UC Davis posted two straight losses to Sacramento State and Saint Mary's (Calif.) The Aggies remaining losses have come at the hands of Radford, California and Portland while their wins are over Portland State, San Fransisco, San Diego State and Southern Utah.

The five members of the Aggie starting lineup lead the team in scoring with Jessica Campbell leading the pack with 13.5 points a game. Kimberly Smith follows at 13.3, Ellen Porshneva at 12.1, Laura Gray at 10.4 and Jackie Turpin. Gray leads on the board with an average of 7.3 per game with Turpin is the assist leader with 36 total on the season.

Brittany Dunn continues to lead the Greyhounds in scoring this season with 11.8 points per game. She is followed closely by classmate Jill Glessner with 11.6 points per game. Jackie Valderas is also averaging double-figures with 10.6 points and a team best 7.5 rebounds a game. Lauren Troupe follows Valderas in that category with an average of 5.5 rebounds a game. Glessner is just behind Troupe with 5.0 rebounds a game. Valderas leads the team in both field-goal and free-throw percentage at .579 and .818 respectively. Krystle Harrington is the assist leader with 39 total.
