LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND
Loyola is beginning its 45th season as a women's basketball program and its 35th year of competition as an NCAA Division I program. Prior to 1981, the Greyhounds competed in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW).
The 2013-14 season was Loyola's inaugural year as a member of the Patriot League.
Prior to joining the League, Loyola was a member of the Northeast Conference for nine seasons (1980-89), before joining the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 1989. The Greyhounds posted an overall record of 196-205 in MAAC games and won two MAAC Championships, in 1993 and 1994.
THINGS TO KNOW
On Saturday, Loyola will face the Mount in the second game of a Loyola-Mount St. Mary's doubleheader. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
The men's teams will tipoff first at 2 p.m.
Wednesday's game will mark the third of four-straight road games for the Greyhounds.
Most recently, Loyola fell to Old Dominion, 64-41, in Norfolk, Virginia.
This season, two Greyhounds - sophomore Bri Betz-White and senior Colleen Marshall - are averaging double figures in scoring. Both Betz-White and Marshall are averaging 15.0 points per game, which is tied for eighth among Patriot League competitors.
Betz-White is shooting 86.4 percent from the free-throw line, which is tied for second in the Patriot League and ranked among the top-100 NCAA Division I competitors.
Loyola has had three different Greyhounds score in double figures in four of the last six games.
Senior Jeneh Perry leads the team with 8.0 rebounds per game and is ranked seventh among Patriot League competitors in rebounds per game.
The Greyhounds return nine players from a team that went 7-23 overall last season.
Loyola is one of 25 NCAA Division I programs to return all five starters from the 2014-15 season.
LAST TIME OUT
Loyola fell to Old Dominion, 64-41, Wednesday afternoon in Norfolk, Virginia.
Senior Colleen Marshall led the Greyhounds with 14 points, while Jeneh Perry recorded her third double-double in as many games. The senior forward posted 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Bri Betz-White also scored in double figures, recording 10 points and shooting 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Loyola and Old Dominion played a close first quarter, as the two teams traded leads on three occasions, but the Lady Monarchs used a 12-2 run in the second quarter to extend their lead to double figures, which they held onto for the remainder of the contest.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS MOUNT ST. MARY'S
Mount St. Mary's leads the all-time series, 23-13, including a 12-6 edge when hosting the Greyhounds in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
While at the helm of the Greyhounds' squad, head coach Joe Logan is 5-2 versus the Mount.
In the last meeting, Loyola recorded its first win of the 2014-15 season, defeating Mount St. Mary's, 56-49, Saturday, Dec. 6, inside Reitz Arena.
The Greyhounds take on No. 6 Maryland Tuesday evening at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Maryland.
