Baltimore, Md. - After the holiday, Loyola women's basketball hosts its second home game of the season vs. Towson on Saturday at 2:00. The Greyhounds are currently 1-3 on the season while the Tigers are 4-0.
ABOUT THE `HOUNDS
Loyola is 1-3 after two weeks of play this season. The `Hounds are led on scoring, rebounding and assists by senior Jill Glessner. Glessner averages 14.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Junior Meghan Wood is second in scoring (10.5) and rebounding (5.8). Junior Tynisha Davis adds 9.3 points a game while senior Brittany Dunn contributes an average of 8.3 points.
SERIES RECORD VS. TOWSON
Towson holds a 20-12 advantage in the series between these two teams although Loyola has won the last five games against the Tigers. Towson has not defeated Loyola since 1999.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson is currently undefeated at 4-0 with wins over Georgetown, Winston-Salem State, American and UMBC. Holly Mahan leads the team in points (15.3), rebounds (8.0) and steals (4.75) a game. She's followed by Shanae Baker-Brice at 12.3 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. Jamell Beasley adds 9.8 points and 4.8 rebounds a game while Alis Freeman contributes 8.8 points and 4.5 boards a game. Rounding out the top five is Kelly Robinson with eight points and 4.8 rebounds a game.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Jill Glessner led three players in double-figures with 13 points to lead Loyola to a 70-62 victory on December 21, 2005. Jackie Valderas added 12 points for Loyola while Tynisha Davis added 10.
The `Hounds and Tigers face four common opponents this season. Both teams have already played UMBC with Loyola falling 58-56 and Towson topping the Retrievers 50-45. Both teams face Rider, a MAAC opponent of Loyola's while Loyola already defeated Drexel, a CAA opponent of Towson's. Both teams will face Mount St. Mary's in December.
