Women's Basketball Opens the 2004-05 Season Sunday

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's basketball team opens the 2004-05 season by traveling to Delaware Sunday. This season begins head coach Candy Cage's fourth year at the helm.

The Greyhounds finished the 2003-04 season with an overall record of 14-15 and a conference record of 9-9 to finish fifth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. In a pre-season poll, Loyola was picked by the MAAC coaches to win the conference title. Junior leading scorer Katie Scherle was named a pre-season first-team all-MAAC selection while classmates Krystle Harington and Lauren Troupe were named to the third-team.

Delaware finished last season 19-10 overall and 10-8 in the Colonial Athletic Association. They were picked to finish second in the CAA this year while senior Tiara Malcom was selected as the pre-season Player of the Year.

Game time is set for 1:00 in Newark at the Carpenter Center.
