Women's Basketball Picked Fifth in Preseason Coaches' Poll

New York, N.Y. - The Loyola College women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the 2005-06 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Greyhounds, under fist year head coach Joe Logan earned 54 points in the poll. Last season, Loyola finished in the same spot in the conference with a 10-18 overall record and a 9-9 mark in the conference.

Canisius was picked as the favorite to win after taking home the crown in the 2004-05 season. Marist, last season's runner up came in second in the poll while Siena was tabbed third. Fairfield and Loyola rounded out the top five respectively.

The Greyhounds earned two spots on the pre-season all-MAAC teams with senior Katie Scherle earning a first-team spot and classmate Krystle Harrington representing Loyola on the third-team.

The Greyhounds and Logan open the 2005-06 season on Friday, November 18 when they host VCU in Reitz Arena at 4:00 p.m.
