Oct. 17, 2005

Baltimore, Md. - Senior Jackie Valderas has been selected as by the student body as one of the 14 members of Loyola College's Green and Grey Society. The esteemed group is the voice of the student body and meet with President Father Linnane regularly to discuss student issues that arise during the year. The candidates for the Society are chosen based on their leadership skills, academics and participation in extra curricular activities.

"Jackie has been selected for the Green and Grey Society, which is an student advisory board to the President of the College," Loyola Vice President Dr. Susan Donovan said. "Fourteen men and women are selected into this prestigious group based on their leadership and contribution to Loyola during the time that they have been here. Jackie is a natural leader among her teammates and a leader within the senior class, in the classroom, on the court and off the court."

"I am honored to have been chosen for this group of students. It's a great opportunity to work closely with the new college president, Father Linnane, and gives each member a chance to get to know other student leaders on campus and what they are doing for the school," Valderas said. "This year, we are focusing on strengthening the Jesuit presence at Loyola, and we're hoping to get a lot of support from the student body, faculty, and the Jesuits themselves."

Valderas begins the final season of her career at Loyola when they open the 2005-06 campaign versus VCU on November 18.
