Jill Glessner Named Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

Baltimore, Md. - Loyola University Maryland alumna Jill Glessner had been named an assistant women's basketball coach at her alma mater following a three-year overseas player career, Head Coach Joe Logan announced today.

"We are thrilled to have Jill Glessner back at Loyola, and I am excited to see her work with our team as a coach," Logan said. "Jill was a great player at Loyola, and she continued to grow as a player with an excellent professional career in Europe. She will bring a wide variety of basketball knowledge to our staff, and she is someone who has shown an ability to teach that knowledge to players."

Glessner graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2007. In her career, Glessner average 9.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and played in an average of 29.2 minutes. She shot 70-percent from the free throw line, and had 265 assists.

"I had the pleasure of playing for Coach Logan for two years," said Glessner. "I am thrilled for this opportunity to be on his staff and to be back at my alma mater. I had a wonderful four years on this campus and couldn't be happier to be Greyhound again."

Glessner was an All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team honoree as a senior for Loyola in 2006-2007. She helped the Greyhounds advance to the 2006 MAAC Championship Game and the 2007 MAAC Semifinals.

Upon graduating from Loyola, Glessner played three years professionally over seas. She played two years in the England Basketball League Division I for the Nottingham Wildcats. In 2007-08, she was voted the league's Import Player of the Year and the team's Most Valuable Player. In 2008-09, she again earned Player of the Year honors after averaging 24.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

In 2009-10, she played in the Kvinneligaen, the top women's league in Norway, for Gimle BBK. She was named the league's Most Valuable Player and also earned Defensive Player of the Year and All-League honors after averaging 19.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 5.1 steals.

During the summer of 2009, she was part of an Athletes in Action basketball tour. She traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and competed against the Brazilian National Team.

Glessner earned her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Loyola in 2007. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports administration from Canisius College. At the prep level she was a two-time Patriot-News Big 15 at Trinity High School in Camp Hill, Pa.
