BALTIMORE - The Loyola women's basketball team was part of a crowd of 626 runners and walkers, and many more came to cheer them on, descended on the Loyola College campus early on Saturday, September 20, in memory of a woman who touched thousands of lives, not only in the lacrosse world, but throughout all communities.

The 6th-Annual Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial 5k Race and 1-Mile Fun Walk was held on the College's campus in honor of the Loyola women's lacrosse coach who passed away in 2003 after a brave battle with brain cancer.

In addition to many local road runners, family and friends of Geppi-Aikens, and Loyola athletics teams, women's lacrosse teams from Loyola, Maryland, Johns Hopkins and Towson all ran or walked at the event.

Junior Erica DiClemente just beat out sophomore Alex Berlin as the top female student-athlete finisher at the race.
