Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's basketball team announced their complete schedule Thursday, adding its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference dates and times to an already established non-conference schedule.
"We've built a very challenging non-conference schedule again this season with great ACC teams like Maryland and Wake Forest as well as consistent NCAA tournament teams with Liberty and Delaware," said fourth-year head coach Candy Cage. "It will be tough but as always we hope it will prepare us for the MAAC. We finally have some veteran players this season and think that by challenging them early, we will be successful."
Cage and the 'Hounds will open the season with six straight road games. The first four are relatively local starting with Delaware, American and Maryland. Loyola will then take a break from non-conference opponents and head north to visit Canisius and Niagara before returning to no-conference and facing Howard on the road. The Greyhounds will host local-rival Towson in the home opener and will also visit Virginia Commonwealth and Wake Forest before Christmas and return to the Evergreen to host Long Island and Liberty after the holiday.
After Liberty, the Greyhounds will stick to the MAAC schedule en route to the 2005 MAAC basketball tournament at the HSBC Arena from March 3-6.
The Loyola schedule also features a TV game from Reitz Arena on Saturday, Feb. 12 vs. Marist. The men's team will face Iona as a part of the televised double-header.
