Baltimore, Md. - Two of Loyola's current women's basketball players, Siobhan Prior and Vika Sholokhova are both playing for their home countries this summer. Prior, a native of Nottingham, England, is playing for England's Under-20 team while Sholokhova is playing for Russia's Under-20 team.
Prior helped her team to the European Championships in June, which were held in Lithuania. As a part of her training, Prior has spent time working with England's National Team. In addition, she has volunteered her time to helping coach and manage her former club team. Her coaching duties will also take her to Belgium this summer and then to Finland to watch her mother, Pauline Prior, coach the Under-16 team in their European Championships.
"I'm happy to be able to spend the summer playing for my country," Prior said. "I'm excited to use this experience to help me on the court next season at Loyola."
Sholokhova joined the Greyhounds in January as a transfer from the University of Pittsburgh. The 6-3 sophomore forward is a native of St. Petersburg, Russia and is also spending her summer playing for Russia's Under-20 Junior national Team.
