Baltimore, Md. - Loyola Greyhounds women's basketball junior guard Siobhan Prior helped Team England to a bronze medal recently in Division B of the Women's Under 20 European Championship held in Druskininkai, Lithuania. Team England finished with a 5-2 overall record, defeating Portugal in the Bronze Medal Game.
A 5-10 guard, Prior started all seven games and ranked among the tournament's leaders in several categories. She finished 13th in three-point field goals made (10), 10th in assists (20) and 24th in minutes played (208) among participants on the 10 teams vying for the championship.
The native of Nottingham, England, opened the tournament with 11 points and eight rebounds in a 69-58 win over the Netherlands. In the quarterfinals, she tallied a tournament-high 14 points and added six assists as England toppled Poland (76-66) to advance to the semifinals. She finished with seven points while playing 33 minutes in win over Portugal to secure a bronze medal. She finished fourth on Team England in scoring with 7.0 points per game and second in assists.
Expected to contribute at guard this season for the Greyhounds, Prior appeared in 21 contests for Loyola in 2006-07 and averaged 1.4 points per game.
