Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's basketball team has announced their 2004-05 non-conference schedule. The Greyhounds have nine games lined up with six on the road and three on their home court, Reitz Arena.
"We've built a very challenging non-conference schedule again this season with great ACC teams like Maryland and Wake Forest as well as consistent NCAA tournament teams with Liberty and Delaware," said fourth-year head coach Candy Cage. "It will be tough but as always we hope it will prepare us for the MAAC. We finally have some veteran players this season and think that by challenging them early, we will be successful."
Cage and the 'Hounds will open the season with four road games, all relatively local. They will start off at Delaware on November 21 and also visit American, Maryland and Howard in the opening stretch. They will host local-rival Towson in the home opener on December 12.
"I'm excited about all our local opponents with Maryland, American, Howard and Towson," said Cage. "All of them are great teams and we look forward to building some rivalries there."
The women's team will also visit Virginia Commonwealth and Wake Forest before Christmas and return to the Evergreen to host Long Island and Liberty after the holiday.
