Baltimore, Md. - Loyola College head women's basketball coach Joe Logan announce the addition of Siobhan Prior to the 2005-06 squad. Prior, England's Junior Player of the Year, completes the Greyhounds freshman class.
"We are very happy to have Siobhan become a part of our Greyhound family," Logan said. "She comes from a great basketball family in Nottingham and her parents are terrific people."
Prior, a Nottingham, England native, played basketball for the English National Team at the U14, U16, U18 and senior women's level. Prior averaged nine points while shooting 49.2% from three-point range to rank first in the country at the senior level. She also averaged 4.2 assists a game to rank her second. Prior earned England's Junior Player of the Year. The 5-10 guard played in the European Championships in Italy in 2000, Sweden in 2001, Croatia in 2002 and 2003, Portugal in 2004 and Bosnia in 2005. Prior also played for the Nottingham Wildcats in the Division I Women's National League. The Wildcats finished third in the country with a record on 18-6.
"Siobhan's ability to stretch the defense with her perimeter shooting will have an immediate impact," Logan said.
Prior joins the Greyhounds squad that finished last season with an overall record of 10-18 and lost just two players to graduation.
