Three Women's Basketball Players Participate In Commencement

Loyola University Maryland women's basketball players Kathleen Excellent, Kiara Henderson and Miriam McKenzie participated in Commencement on Saturday as graduates of the Class of 2012.

The trio joined 60 other Loyola student-athletes at First Mariner Arena in downtown Baltimore.

During their time at Loyola, Excellent, Henderson and McKenzie led the Greyhounds to their winningest season in program history in 2010-11, as Loyola won 21 games, finished second in the MAAC and won the first postseason game in school history at Old Dominion in the WNIT. The three helped the team to 58 victories, including 37 in MAAC play.

Exellent appeared in 59 career games with the Greyhounds and made her first career start in 2011-12. She scored a season-high four points int he season opener at No. 11 Maryland and had a career-high five rebounds as a junior against Niagara. She graduated with her degree in accounting.

Henderson appeared in 28 games in a Greyhound uniform, registering a career high in minutes as a junior against Niagara. In the 2011-12 season opener, Henderson scored two points and grabbed one rebound against 11th-ranked Maryland. She graduated with a degree in psychology and plans on attending graduate school.

McKenzie will go down as one of the best to ever put on the green & grey uniform. A three-time First Team All-MAAC selection, she is just the fifth player in Greyhound history to rank in the top-10 of both points and rebounds. She played in 99 career games, making 89 starts. She finished her career ranked fourth all-time with 1,398 career points and seventh with 722 career rebounds.
