Former Loyola College women's basketball player Jill Glessner helped lead her professional team to the semifinals of this weekend's English Basketball League (EBL) Playoffs.
Glessner, who earned All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference honors and graduated from Loyola in 2007, and the Nottingham Wildcats defeated the London Mets, 86-49, in the April 5 quarterfinals.
The Wildcats, who finished third in the league's regular-season standings, take on the playoff's second-seeded UWIC Archers on Saturday, April 18, in Manchester, England. The winner will play the victor of the other semifinal, between the Sheffield Hatters and Solent Suns, in the April 19 final.
Glessner scored 24 points and had eight rebounds, three steals and two assists against the Mets.
This season, her second in the EBL, Glessner was fifth in the league in points per game (24.0) and third in rebounds (9.7). She earned All-Star honors and led the `Rest of the World' team to a victory in the EBL All-Star Game over Team England.
