The Loyola women's basketball team is spending its early offseason conditioning and preparing for next year, but the Greyhounds also took time out from their classes to attend a lecture by a professional football great.
Washington Redskins legend and National Football League Hall of Famer Darrell Green spoke to the Loyola campus community at an event sponsored by the Loyola Green & Grey Society.
A longtime proponent of community service, Green founded the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation in 1988 and now operates multiple locations of the Darrell Green Youth Life Learning Centers where inner-city youth receive academic enrichment and a values-based education.
Green spoke to the group about the importance of building a strong community, not only in sports but on campus and everywhere in life.
After the event, members of the women's basketball team met the 1996 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
