GREENSBORO, N.C. - Laura Harper, Loyola University Maryland women’s basketball assistant coach, was inducted into the Atlantic Coast Conference 2014 Legends Class at a ceremony on Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.
A four-year letter winner at the University of Maryland, Harper led the Terrapins to the 2006 National Championship where she was named the Final Four’s Outstanding Player award. After scoring a career-high 24 points in the semifinal game against North Carolina, Harper recorded 16 points in the title win against Duke.
Harper graduated in 2008 and was picked 10th overall in the WNBA draft by the Sacramento Monarchs. The power forward scored 1,407 points and grabbed 873 rebounds at her alma mater and she sits atop the charts at Maryland with 198 blocked shots for the Terrapins. The Philadelphia native ranks sixth in free throws made.
Harper joined fellow ACC players Beck Gottstein Holden of Boston College, Bobbie Mims Felder of Clemson, Michelle Van Gorp of Duke, Alicia “Ice” Gladden of Florida State, Marion Jones of North Carolina, Sharon Manning of NC State, and coaches Agnus Berenato and Lin Dunn of Georgia Tech and Miami in the Legends Class.
