Valderas Named Conference Sixth Player of the Year

Albany, N.Y. - Senior forward Jackie Valderas was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Sixth Player of the Year for the second straight year as announced by the conference office Friday night.

Valderas is the first player off the bench for the Greyhounds, having started in just four games while averaging 9.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.61 blocks a game. She led her team in both rebounds and blocks while ranking third in scoring. Valderas led the league in field-goal percentage, shooting an impressive 53.0% from the floor. She also ranked second in free-throw percentage among MAAC players at 84.7%. This season she recorded double-figures in 13 games while posting double-figures in rebounds three times. Valderas currently posts 797 points, 534 rebounds and 125 blocks for her career.

The senior captain and the Greyhounds will face Canisius Saturday in the semi-final round of the MAAC Tournament at 2:15 at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y.
