Women's Basketball Hosts Manhattan Friday Night

Baltimore, Md. - Friday night the Greyhounds host Manhattan in one of their two final home games of the 2004-05 season. Loyola looks to end its six game skid vs. the Jaspers, who they are tied with at a 6-8 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Manhattan leads the series with Loyola 20-11. The Jaspers, most recently defeated the Greyhounds at Draddy Gymnasium 55-49 on February 3, 2005. Last season, Loyola swept the Manhattan-Loyola series with a 61-50 victory at home and a 60-59 win at Draddy. That win was the first at Draddy Gym for head coach Candy Cage.

Junior Katie Scherle continues to lead the Greyhounds in both scoring and rebounding for the second consecutive season. She averages 11.3 points and 6.6 rebounds a game. Classmate Krystle Harrington follows in scoring at 9.2 points a game with team-highs of 4.7 assists and 2.4 steals a game. Jackie Valderas has moved into third in scoring at 8.2 points and is second on the boards with an average of 4.9 a game. While Lauren Troupe is close by in both categories with 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds a game.

Serra Sangar leads Manhattan in scoring as well as rebounding with an average of 13.9 points and 6.6 rebounds a game. Donnette Reed is second in scoring (11.6) and leads in assists (3.8) and steals (2.6) but has sat out the last six games due to a stress fracture. Freshman Aubrie Dellinger and Joann Nwafili are third and fourth in scoring at 7.9 and 7.7 points per game respectively. Nwafili follows Sangar on the boards at 5.1 a game.
