Women's Basketball Hosts Marist Friday Night

Baltimore, Md. - Friday the Greyhounds host Marist in a match-up of the top two teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Red Foxes rank first with a 21-4 overall record and an undefeated 14-0 record in conference while the Greyhounds hold second place with a 15-9 overall record and 10-4 mark in conference.

ABOUT THE `HOUNDSSenior Jill Glessner continues to lead Loyola in scoring at 14.7 points per game. She also averages a team-high three assists per game, is second in steals with 1.5 and third in rebounds at 5.5. Vika Sholokhova leads the team in rebounds with 7.6 a game while following Glessner in the scoring column at 11.5 points per game. Brittany Dunn is third in scoring with an average of 10.2 points an outing. She leads the team in steals with two a game on average and is second in assists with 2.7 a game. Meghan Wood rounds out the top scorers with 9.1 points a game and is second in rebounds with 6.7 an outing. The remaining `Hounds average between 5.9 and 1.2 points per game.

SCOUTING THE RED FOXESFreshman Rachele Fitz leads Marist in scoring and rebounding with an average of 14.6 points and 6.3 boards a game. She's followed in both categories by Meg Dahlman with 12 points and six rebounds a game. Dahlman leads the team in blocks with 2.1 a game. Julianne Viani is third in scoring with 9.8 points a game while leading the team in assists with an average of 3.2 a game. Alisa Kresge leads the team in steals with an average of 2.5 a game.

The Greyhounds are currently down 11-20 in the series with the Red Foxes. Marist won the last game, 60-50 in Poughkeepsie on December 8. Prior to that the two teams met in the MAAC Tournament with Marist winning 68-57 on March 5, 2006. In the regular season last year, the teams split with each team winning on their home court.

Loyola fares slightly better at home vs. Marist, posting a 6-8 record in Baltimore and a 5-10 record in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and a 0-2 mark in tournament games.
