Feb. 13, 2007

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College Athletic Department held National Girls and Women in Sports Day Sunday, February 11 with over 400 young girls and their families in attendance. The participants were taken on a tour of Loyola's facilities, a scavenger hunt, poster decoration, face painting and were treated to balloon animals and a pizza party before attending the women's basketball game versus Rider at 12:00. After the game, participants were invited to an autograph session and ice cream social. All the activities were led by Loyola's female student athletes. Commemorative t-shirts were given to all participants. The day's activities was entirely free for the participants and their families.

Several parents sent in comments to the athletic department, thanking them for this event:

"I just wanted to let you know what a great day we had at Loyola today! The Girl's and Women's Sports Day was so well organized and overall just a quality event for the girls and parent's. My daughter talked about it the whole night and is taking all of the stuff she received today to school with her tomorrow to tell her class all about it. Thanks for all of your hard work in making this such a memorable day for the girls. You really made Loyola look its best today! A nice showing by the student athletes who were helping out. They were so friendly and engaging with the girls and were very good role models."

"I just want to let you know what a great time my daughter and I had yesterday at National Girls and Women in Sports Day. It was such a nice event. She loved EVERYTHING from having her face painted, to the Scavenger Hunt, to giving the Greyhound mascot a hug, to watching the basketball game and cheering with her pom-pom. When we were leaving and walking to our car, she said, [Mommy, I had so much fun. I know I will have really good dreams about this tonight!] So thanks to you and everyone in Athletics, especially the student athletes who participated, for hosting such a great event."

"We attended our first Women in Sports Day at Loyola College and my daughter had a great time. I would like to thank you for the fun filled day of events and hospitality. All the Loyola students were most gracious and accommodating and certainly did a wonderful job with our kids. Thanks very much!"
