Today the No. 6 Greyhounds travel to Manhattan College and Draddy Gymnasium to face the No. 9 Lady Jaspers.
The Series vs. Manhattan
The Lady Jaspers hold a 19-10 advantage over the Greyhounds in the series that began in 1990. Manhattan swept the Greyhounds in the 2002-03 season but Loyola has already topped the Jaspers once this season with a 61-50 win at Reitz Arena on Dec. 7, 2003.
Greyhounds Last Time Out
BALTIMORE, MD - Siena posted three players in double figures in a 58-46 win over Loyola Sunday afternoon at Reitz Arena. Jolene Johnston scored 19 points to lead the Saints over the Greyhounds. Loyola falls to 10-11 overall with the loss and to an even 6-6 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Siena improved to 12-10 overall and 8-5 in the league.
Siena led from the opening minute of play when Nathalie Marchino hit a three-pointer to open scoring at 19:22. Lindsay Cobb answered back with a two-point basket for Loyola at 19:03. The two teams held each other scoreless almost the next 2:45 before trading baskets for the next four minutes. Cobb gave Loyola the with a three at 11:00 for a 13-13 score but Siena would go on to lead by as much as 15 points at the close of the first half, 34-19.
Loyola's defense worked hard in the second half, holding Siena to just one basket in the first six minutes of play. Jill Glessner score two baskets and Lauren Troupe added a layup and a three-point basket to get the Greyhounds within six, 36-30. But that would be as close as they could come with Johnston scoring 11 of her 19 points in the last 13 minutes of play.
Johnston, in addition to her game-high 19, pulled down another game-high of 12 rebounds. She was followed in double digits by teammates Katelyn Dooley with 15 and Nathalie Marchino with 10.
Loyola outshot Siena in Sunday's game, 40% to 37%. Siena dominated on the boards however, grabbing 41 to Loyola's 24.
Scouting Report: The Lady Jaspers
Manhattan is lead by senior Rosalee Mason. Mason averages a doble-double at 18.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She is followed in scoring by Serra Sangar at 13.3 points per game. Donette Reed is third in scoring with 8.6 points per game and is first in assists at 5.3 a game.
For The Greyhounds
Loyola is currently led by Katie Scherle with 11.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She is followed in both categories by Lauren Troupe at 11.2 and 5.3 respectively. In the points column, guards Krystle Harrington and Lindsay Cobb are third and fourth with 7.8 and 7.1 points per game respectively. On the boards, Jill Glessner is third with 3.8 per game. In the assist column, Cobb leads with 3.7 a game. She is followed by Harrington with 3.6. Harrington is on top of steals with 2.4 per game.Scherle is currently shooting a team-best .497 from the floor while Troupe is tops for the charity stripe at .810.
