Loyola women's basketball alumna Jill Glessner was named to the `Rest of the World' team and helped lead the squad to a victory at the English Basketball League Women's All-Star Game on Sunday, February 10, 2008.
Glessner, who graduated in May 2007, plays for the Nottingham Wildcats. She has helped the Wildcats into fourth place in the English Basketball League Division I standings with a 8-4 record through this weekend.
Glessner and the Rest of the World team defeated the English Select team, 108-89. Glessner scored nine points, had a team-high 11 rebounds and added two steals and an assist in 22 minutes of action.
Her play during the third quarter helped the Rest of the World team open a 74-60 lead after coming out of halftime with a 43-42 advantage. Glessner scored just three points in the quarter, but she had seven rebounds, an assist and a steal during the frame.
On the previous day, Glessner helped the Wildcats win their eighth game of the season, defeating the UWIC Archers, 79-70. She recorded 18 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals and five assists in the game.
Glessner was an All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team honoree last season after averaging a team-high 14.9 points and 3.2 assists per game.
