Women's Basketball Hosts Canisius Early Super Bowl Sunday

Baltimore, Md. - As a part of a double-header with the men's squad on Super Bowl Sunday, the Greyhounds host the Golden Griffs of Canisius. Loyola hoping to end a three-game skid against Canisius who is currently in second place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Greyhounds are fifth at 7-13 and 6-5 while the Golden Griffs are 12-8 and 8-3. Fans can catch all the action here.

The series between Loyola and Canisius is tied at 18. The first contest between the two teams was a 68-53 Golden Griffs victory in the 1986-87 season. Last season on the two teams split the series and met in the second round of the MAAC Tournament with Canisius winning that game 72-70. Earlier this season, the Greyhounds defeated Canisius 63-58 at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Katie Scherle continues to lead Loyola with 11.1 points and 6.6 rebounds a game. She is followed by Krystle Harrington with 9.6 points and 4.6 assists a game. Lauren Troupe is next in line with 8.5 points and a team second best with 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds a game. Jackie Valderas rounds out the top scorers with 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds a game.

Canisius posts four players in double-figures with Megan Lyte leading the way with 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds a game. Becky Zak is second with 11.6 points and 4.7 assists a game. Cheri Wittlieb is third with 10.9 points while Jesica Steeves is fourth in scoring at 10.1 points and second in rebounds with 6.4 a game.
