Baltimore, Md. - Katie Scherle was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Player of the Week Monday as announced by the conference office. The junior forward helped Loyola to a 3-0 week while averaging a double-double of 17.7 points and 12 rebounds. This is her first MAAC honor of the season.
Scherle recorded three straight double-doubles last week in the Greyhounds wins over Saint Peter's, Rider and Niagara. Loyola improved to 7-10 overall with the wins and earned the first place spot in the MAAC with a 6-2 conference record. She scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds vs. the Peahens, tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds against the Broncs and 19 points and 15 boards vs. the Purple Eagles. Her rebounding efforts helped Loyola to a 127-78 advantage over their opponents last week.
Scherle leads the team in scoring with an average of 11 points and 6.9 rebounds a game. She shoots a league best 54.3% from the field.
The Greyhounds return to the road as they visit Siena on Friday, January 28.
