CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University of Maryland women's basketball freshman Bri Betz-White earned Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors Monday after scoring a career-high 23 points on Saturday afternoon in a Greyhounds victory.
Betz-White became the first Loyola freshman since Kara Marshall in 2012 to score 20-plus points in a single contest. The rookie guard guided the Greyhounds to a 63-53 victory against the Boston University Terriers, posting a game-best 23 points on the road.
She scored eight of her last 23 points from the charity stripe, going 11-for-12 from the free throw line against the Terriers.
Betz-White averaged 19 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals last week. The Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania native led Loyola in points against Lafayette and Boston University.
Through 17 games, Betz-White is second on the team in points, averaging 10.3 this season.
This is the second weekly award for the rookie guard.
Betz-White and the Greyhounds return to action on Wednesday, taking on Bucknell University at 7 p.m.
