Baltimore, Md. - Senior Jackie Valderas was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday after helping Loyola improve to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference. She shares the honor with Marist's Fifi Camara.
Valderas averaged nearly a double-double this past week with 15. points and 9.5 rebounds. She shot 68.8% from the field and 87.5% from the free-throw line on the week. Valderas was one of five Greyhounds in double figures with 11 points in a 69-54 win over Saint Peter's and scored a season-high 19 points in a 72-68 win over Manhattan. Valderas also pulled down 12 boards to post a double-double vs. the Jaspers. She currently leads the Greyhounds in scoring (10.3), rebounds (7.8), blocks (17 total) and field-goal percentage (.541).
Valderas takes home the second straight Co-Player of the Week honor for Loyola after classmate Lauren Troupe earned it last week.
Valderas and the Greyhounds travel to Liberty Tuesday to face the Lady Flames in their final non-conference game of the season.
